How to uninstall something completely

I tried to us the Free Tuaureg program, but it locks up in w2k. I tried to uninstall it, but install shield froze. After 'end task' of install shield, the program seems to be gone from the 'programs' menu. But it still shows up in add/delete software menu. How do I get rid of it?

I believe if it's still showing up in Add/Remove programs, it still has a registry entry. You can use regedit to search for the offending program and nuke those keys (of course, backup the reg before you mess with it). But if the program files have been deleted, it really doesn't do any harm to leave everything else alone. Depending on the software, during installation it may have dumped some files in a directory other than its base install directory, it's possible that those won't have been deleted by the failed uninstall.
