is the proper way just to remove from add/remove programs?

I removed the nvidia nview thing and I think it did the trick.

When I restarted Windows 7 automatically installed the driver and I had to restart.

Yup , also you can use the "perform clean install" option while installing the NV drivers.

usually what i do:

1)uninstall drivers via add/remove programs

2)restart in safe mode and run driver cleaner/driver fusion/driver sweeper/whatever

3)restart and install new drivers
