How to UNINSTALL DirectX 9.c? **Problem solved!!!**

Hi everybody!!
I have a problem with my latest game "The Godfather", I purchased it yesterday, I wanted to install it and I can't...after introducing the KEY, I accept the terms and conditions and...suddenly a message pops up that says the game cannot be installed because my system does not have the Directx9.c installed....that's weird, I have installed the latest 9.c version (February 2006)...
Another thing: I have also bought the LOTR: The Bttle for the Middle Earth II...from EA too...and it also uses Directx9c...it works perfectly....no problems at all....in fact it's the first time I have a problem like this with a game, I mean, with dGodfather game.

So, I want to uninstall the Directx9c.....and try to reinstall the game after reinstalling the Directx9c files....please help!!

There's usually a copy of DX on the game CD/DVD. I'd try installing that version over the top of your present version and then try installing the game again.

there are a bunch Dx9c versions though they are not labeled. Everytime a game asks to install DX9c, install it. Like Sable said, it should be in the game CD/DVD.

You do not have to bother installing old redistributions...

Look in your Windows\System32 directory and you'll see "d3dx9_**.dll" in which ** represents the numbers 24 - 29. 24 is the first distribution, 29 is the february 2006 redistribution. As long as you have all of them, you're fine and updated. If you're missing some, download February 2006 Redistribution right from Microsoft, and it will install any components you are missing.

Don't bother with the version on the game, as that may onl;y update a couple you are missing... always use the latest distribution from Microsoft. They update this bi-monthly, so the next one will be April 2006, d3dx9_30.dll, look out for it.

EDIT: If you have 24 - 29, and the game still has an error.. it's probably bad programming... and I'd look on their forums to see what others have experienced.

uninstalling dx, while possible, is an utter bitch & royally screwed up my rig last time i did it 😉

Well...Problem solved and really really happy now...ahhh...my Directx 9.c is the complete February distribution...everything runs faster and no conflicts at all...
OK, for you guys; Uninstalling the mixed and old and sometimes conflictive directx 9 a/b/c .dlls files is possible with a fantastic program I have tested...it's really easy to use and the results are excellent. Its name is Happy Directx Uninstaller 3.85, I purchased it, uninstalled every Directx 9 file following the steps the program indicates you, restart the system and installed the Feb 2006 Directx 9c redistributable...simple, secure and great...that's all, I am really happy now!!!!🙂
