How to Uninstall Applications on Mac OS X

Removing applications from a Mac can be quite difficult at times. Even though you may have uninstalled it from the options menu, certain files are usually still left over. Not only can these files prove to be harmful but they also eat up the disk space of your PC. However, using a certain trick you can ensure that all files related to an application are removed thereby truly uninstalling the app. If you are facing problems uninstalling any application on your Mac, follow the steps below:

Step 1
Open the ‘Applications List’

Open the 'Finder' window. On the left-hand side of the window, you will notice the name of your hard disk. Click on it and a list of folders will be presented. Open the one titled ‘Applications.’

Step 2
Select the Application to be Removed

In the window that opens, you will notice the entire list of applications from your PC. On the top right corner, there is a search bar. Type in the name of the application you want to uninstall and hit enter.

Finding the Right Options

Once you have searched for the app, not all the files relating to it will be made available to you. Click on the ‘+’ button next to the save button and an additional list of options will be presented to you in the form of an options bar.

Step 4
Finding the ‘System’ Files

Click on the ‘Kind’ drop down menu and select the ‘Other’ option.

Step 5
Search 'System'

Now go to the search bar in the window that opens and type ‘System’. An option will appear in the search results. Tick the box next to it and click on ‘OK’.

Step 6
Select ‘are included’

Now click on the ‘aren’t included’ drop down menu and set it to ‘are included’. Now, all the files for the app are available, select all of them and press ‘Shift + Delete’ and the app should have been successfully removed.

Following these simple steps, you can quickly uninstall an application on your Mac OS X.
