How to uninstall and install nforce4 drivers safely

I've looked around and found no useful information out there. Basically i want to update to the latest nForce4 but i am unsure how to do this correctly and more importantly safely. While searching for info i found some instances were users have been unable to boot up their PCs after unstalling their current nforce drivers so i really want to avoid a similar scenario if possible. So can someone outline step by step the process of installing the latest nforce4 drivers and indicating possible pitfalls that could turn it into a nightmare. Thanks.

I have never uninstalled the nforce 4 drivers before upgrading to a new version. They copy right over the old drivers. The forceware drivers have to be uninstalled before new drivers installed.
