A plunger cleared it a little, but it seems to be still partially blocked. It fills up with water just about to the top.

Can I toss a chemical down there to do the trick?

QFT!

(Just don't get stuck. ;))

I had this happen and found that the previous owner had left a ring of keys in the trap. :|

use the plunger, just pop it in there and get ready to get sprayed with poo water!!!

*on a side, moving out of my house jr year of college...i was the last one left to do the "cleaning". I finished everything, packed up my car, and realized i should drop some logs before heading on the road trip home. Over 2 years I lived in this house and never once clogged it...well, I got up, flushed...and BOOM! Clogged...my solution was...close the lid and hope it goes down...i felt back for the group of girls that moved in in august....

Pray and just keep flushing. I "semi"-clogged one at work 2 years back with toilet paper. Just wait till the water level goes down, then flush. It took me about 5...

They sell drain opener at Walmart....most is just straight Lye. If you can get some, pour it down the toilet, but beware the fumes and be sure you don't stand around after pouring it...let it work on its own.

Non-chemical, get a snake. They sell them at most hardware stores. Don't waste your money on the cheap flimsy ones, if you ever have a real clog, they never have enough power to get the clog out. So get a REAL one...just to keep around.
