how to "un-overclock" a cpu?

i recently obtained a 700mhz duron cpu from another AT member. he let me know that he ran the chip at 933mhz, but he had to bump up the core voltage to 1.85 (from 1.60). to do that, he connected the L7 bridge with conductive ink. i was told that i can scrap off the ink from the L7 bridge and the core voltage will be back down to 1.60. i tried to scrap off the ink, but each time i boot back up, i go into the bios and the voltage is still at 1.85. the main reason i do not want to overclock is becuz this chip is going into a rig for my friend... plus i am using a heatsink fan from a socket370 celeron cpu. i don't think it will be able to keep an overclocked duron cool... thus might roast the chip. so anyway, how would one go abouts removing conductive ink connecting the L7 bridge on a duron? i used a razor and scrapped off what i could, but i guess there are still remnants of ink there still holding it together. any suggestions? 🙂

Try a q-tip and either alcohol or nail polish remover. Try alcohol first; it worked for me when I had to clean up my unlocked XP.

PS Scrub it good, that cotton won't hurt anything. Just use short strokes.
