Control Panel - Sounds and Multimedia - Down list to Windows Explorer - Select "Start Navigation" and change from "start" to (None) - No more problems.

I set mine to shut down Windows when I click on links. Makes browsing a little slow though.

Better yet, change the sound for the navigation to a 4 minute long MP3....you'll find it much less annoying ahem! :D

Make it hibernate. It might save you a few minutes.

I wonder why nobody noticed that I posted the answer to this question...or at least acknowledged it.

I would have assumed the guy was looking for a realistic answer.
