It's more related to what phone it is (and what keyboard you're using) than the Android version, so which phone is this?

Do you see anything on Settings - Language/keyboard - [keyboard being used] that you can change?

Woohoo... posted at the same time.

If you don't mind, can you answer my question above and tell us how you fixed it? For the sake of other readers :)

Sure. I have an asus memopad hd7. With android 4.2.2.

To change the settings, go to the settings menu.
Then choose "language & input".
I have 2 keyboards, an asus keyboard and a google keyboard.
With both keyboard options there is another settings image on the right (Which i thought was greyed out but actually functions.) Select that settings option and then there will appear a new screen with all the auto complete /prediction and other input options.

I was used to the android version 2 on my htc desire. I guess i am used to that version since it works so great.
