How to turn land line phone jacks into ethernet?

Hey guys, I need wired Internet in a room that is on the opposite side of a house. I currently have a home network setup (netgear router) and don't want wireless internet in that room (to prevent latency in XBox Live gaming) and so heard that with some adapter I can use existing phone jacks to use cat5 ethernet. Does anyone know what I need?

I used HPNA 2.0 a couple of years ago. It seemed to work OK. Of course, it's limited to 11mbps, which is probably slower than the effective transfer of 802.11g. It worked HORRIBLY when I was using Windows XP as a bridge between Ethernet and HPNA, but seemed reliable when I used a Pansonic hardware bridge (like the Netgear bridge linked in the previous post).

There is also the option to use the powerlines (110VAC) to transmit Ethernet. Haven't used that one....

Overall, I'd suspect that the advances in WiFi have pretty much killed the market for HPNA and powerline equipment.

BTW...is the latency of HPNA better than WiFi? I'd be surprised if it is.

Thanks Jack. One question though, since this is primarily for gaming, will there by any latency? When I used a wireless bridge before (also up to 11Mbps), there was very noticeable lag but since this is a wired connection, perhaps there won't be?

in theory there shouldn't be any noticeable latency, or latency to begin with. as long as that piece of equipment doesn't introduce any, that is.
