How to turn a Geforce 8400M G into a 8400M GS?

Hi, my laptop is equipped with a Geforce 8400M G video card, wich is essencially equal to the 8400M GS, with the same 16 stream processors, but with only 4 ROP's instead of the 8 of the GS.

I wondered if the G is really made only with 4 ROPs or if it's a GS with half of the ROPs disabled. With rivatuner, I found out that it actually has 8 ROPs just like the GS, but half of them are disabled (see the screenshots below).

However, as the screenshots show, even when I checkmark the entry for the disabled ROP units, it still displays as "disabled", and there is no performance gain at all.

What can I do to unlock those ROPs? It would make a huge difference in my very limited graphics card.
Thanks in advance.

See? Although marked, they still inactive :( What can I do?

hey, i believe than nvidia has laser cut their cards, meaning that you cannot re enable disabled parts. but if you wanted to see if it worked, you could click on the left side on bit xx and enable that checkmark, and reboot to see if it helped. personally, i tried doing it on my 8800gts, but to no avail. as i rebooted, it still showed the stock 96sp's and the rop count was also the same, so i am pretty sure it will not work, but you can try it and if you are lucky, then you ll have some extra perf. btw, how are the temps on your q6600? is it a b3 stepping? i was wondering as i was planning to get a quad in the future, and since the 45nm quads are not supported on my board, i was wondering on how well the big typhoon will cool the q6600 as i dont want to go out and buy a new cooler.

Edit: saw the checkmark on the screenshot, didnt look at the other screen. i believe you right click the state, and set it to enabled, and reboot.
