well i have gotten one of these meters, the one from radio shack and i have tuned in all the surround sound speakers...so that they are all equal at 00 db's they are outputting around 57db's

so how do you go about setting the sub for the correct sound ???

where to set the gain, crossover and the setting on the actual receiver ???

any advice would be appreciated

thanks

leeland

screw the DB meter from ratshack.

it truely has no real ability to figure out the db's.

did you do this HT setup yourself??? give us some ideas on you actual setup, like reciever, speakers, amps? crossovers?

it's SPL. (Sound Pressure Level)

Do you have pink-noise coming through the sub?

AND- the "DB" meter from RatSchak is a great piece of equipment.

Depends on your sats and sub. If they are a matched set you can just Read The Friendly Manual to see what it says, if not you can look up the specs on the sub and sats to get an idea of what range each is good in.

Generally the cheaper the sats the higher you need to set the crossover, since cheap sat = weak upper bass / lower midrange.
