How to treat blisters.. do i Pop it???

i got two major blisters on my toes from walking all day at Six Flags NE last night..

How do i treat this? My 12 yr old brother says to heat up a knife blade and pop it... well?

nm i googled it.

Swab blister area with rubbing alcohol and let air dry.
Sterilize a needle for 10 seconds in a flame.
Puncture the edge of the blister near the skin.
Apply gentle pressure to squeeze out fluid.
Do not remove or rub off the top of the blister.
Apply antibiotic ointment, but avoid alcohol or iodine.
Cover with sterile gauze or bandage
Discard needle into sturdy plastic or metal container.
Change the gauze or bandage daily.
If pus or redness develop, seek medical attention.

Don't pop it. The fluid is there for a reason - to protect and moisturize the new skin while it quickly matures. Just put a bandaid over it or something and guard it until the blister gets weak and dies on it's own.

hahahaha....i just got two nasty blisters on my big toe from running so far not too long ago. I popped the "mothers" due to their size and seeing as i couldn't bare to walk on them, and now they're healing ok. The skin has hardened, but i put lotion on the spots every chance i can. All i know is that it was unbearable leaving them unpopped.

The google method is what I use too.

A pimpel or whatever, juss poke a hole, squeeze out the fluid and put neosporen on it.

If you don't put on neosporen, you'll see a darker red circle there the next day.

See... pimples are simply clogged pores. A blister is the body repairing damage and preparing replacement flesh in its place. Two very different things.

You guys probably pick a scab immediately when it forms, too, don't ya.

technically u never pop, but i generally pop and then wipe anaseptic if its in an area that i have to use like hands feet anaseptic on blister area = pain.... oh the pain..
