May some please tell me ?

I have one of those A type USB cords that allows me to connect my camcorder directly to the pc... Some people have said that Adobe premier is a very good program. my main question is how do i use that particular program to transfer the video data on the to my harddrive?

i used the program that came with my sony camcorder and it was very crap video quality....

USB is only good for transferring still images. If you want to transfer video you're going to need Firewire.

From my experience, the USB port of your camcorder is only used to transfer photo snapshots to your PC. If you want to transfer video, you'd have to use the Firewire port. However, it may depend on your camcorder. What kind of camcorder do you have?

I have a Panasonic PV-GS300 camcorder with both USB and Firewire ports. The Firewire port is the only one that is used for video transfer.

Give these instructions a try:

Sony HandyCam DCR-HC20 and the other (dont know the exact Model No.) is a JVC camcorder with 32X optical zoom (larger than my sony handy cam).

SO all i need is a firewire plug?

BTW do i need to install some sort of driver on my computer so that Premier can recognize it when i hook up the fire wire plug.... Thanks for the help guys..
