I need to transfer settings from an old blackberry (not sure the model as it does not say, looks like a giant calculator) to a slightly newer model (curve I believe, still looks fairly big compared to mine).

The phone service is deactivated on both. How do i go about transfering the settings, can it still talk to the bes server even if the phone service is out? I really have no clue how these work, guessing there is an antenna on the building or something that connects to the bes so they can communicate, no idea. (there's lot of antenas so could be one of those). If I call the number none of the phones ring, and i can't call out from either, so if the transfer uses the phone service and not the bes service then really not sure how to go about this.

I can't seem to find any options in the bes server. In fact, how does the bes server identify a specific device? I will need to also change that so the email goes to the new phone.

You can install the BB desktop manager software which can be downloaded from the blackberry website. There is an option to transfer settings from your old blackberry to you new blackberry. Works fine used it several times switching between phones.

Also, the phone is identified by the PIN and the ESN/MEID (at least it is on the BIS side).

I'm willing to bet that DivideByZero could help more..
