Hi everyone,

I was not sure what forum to put this in, but I figured this was the best place.

My main desktop has 7 hard drives for over 7tb of space. With the 2 gtx 295s and other assorted stuff, it sucks down a LOT of power, way too much to leave on when I'm not around.

Therefore I bought a small zacate SFF to leave on for downloads. What I'm wondering is the best way to transfer data from the SFF to the desktop. Both motherboards have usb 3.0, so I figure I want to go that direction. I dont want to use ethernet because it would slow down the downloads.

My question is:

What cable should I use? From what I can see, a USB 3.0 A-A cable would work, but i also read it might fry the motherboards. Are there usb 3.0 data transfer cables for purchase? Thank you!

Your best best would be to use the network ports that are most like present on both systems.

Another easy/fast solution would be to just install the data drive from the SFF on the main rig via an eSATA port and copy the data over.

I don't think it's possible to connect two PCs through USB...
No reason why it shouldn't be possible, but AFAIK no one has written the software to make it happen. With gigabit Ethernet and networking so easy to do these days, it's not really needed.

you guys didnt check out his link now did you?

There is at long last a target disk mode options for PC's, and it is cross platform compatible with MAc's too, and they have a cross platform model for Android and Ipad/iPod/iPhone.

It also servers as a KVM switch too, minus the V for video.

Enjoy!!!

interesting device.. lol... however i do prefer the 1gb Ethernet route as your not limited to one PC if u already have a network.
