Can someone point me to a guide that will explain what the various temp readings mean and what they should be etc etc?

I run stress, the voltages change, and i'm not sure what shouould be made of them. Would be also nice to know HOW to go about stressing the PSU to see if it works for the stuff plugged in.

I tried searching but AT search is pretty bad :(

Thanks much!

You need to clarify exactly what you are looking for!
What temp readings?
You run what stress?
How are you measuring voltages?

Use "Title and summary" for the search. Then, it will work.

I screwed up - sorry! Recently I have been reading/trying to get my PC temps down, so typed temps by mistakes. I meant voltages!

The monitors for Everest/SpeedFan display various voltages. There is -+12V, -+5V, 3V, CPU core. They all seem to be fluctuating.

Example: +3.3 goes from 3.31 to 3.38. Stays at 3.38 for idle. 12V shows as being 12.80 and so on. They seem to look OK, but I want to be sure.

Thus, I was wondering if there was a guide to what the ranges of each temp should be and the best methods to test them.

For testing system stability, people suggested http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview...atid=28&threadid=1901991&enterthread=y

I am wondering if there is something similar for the PSU.

I have a Apevia Aspire 420W with P5b-VM + Core 2 Duo@1.86. I am using prime95, etc to stress the system.

Thanks much!

12.8V?!?!?

You would "benchmark" the PSU the same way you'd benchmark everything else. Run the apps in that other thread with DMM probes shoved into the back side of the ATX main connector.

The load from the CPU, RAM, GPU, etc. would put more strain on the PSU and voltages should drop.

You should not rely on a software utility for measuring voltages in a PC. You should use a digital multimeter and stated by jonny.
