How to test that I am getting correct HD speed?

I have an ATA-100 mobo with 2 ATA-100 drives, and I want to test to make sure that I am getting maximum performance. And also I don't have a "generic hard disk controller" thing in my device manager. Is that a problem? I can't tell if DMA is enabled. Thanks!

I wouldnt worry about this! Most drive max out at 45meg a sec anyways! U can use sandra to test though. It shoud tell u all u need to know.

Way better than Sandra to test HDDs. A tip - if DMA is NOT enabled you'll get very high cpu utilisation when running the test.
