How to test SD Memory Card

How can I test a new SD memory card I have recieved. I can add about 700 mb to a 2 gig card, but after that I get error messages when trying to write on the card (via computer sd slot).

Error 0x80070052: The Directory of file cannot be created.

Tried to format, same results. 🙁
