The software does not have this feature that I can see. How can I check it for errors?

What kind of errors are you talking about ?
You can check the SSD's SMART data with CrystalDiskInfo (free)...

I like to deep scan my platter drives eveyr now and then.

Is there a way to deep scan the nand for errors? Or is it..............works perfect one day and BAM!!!! the next.

If your getting physical noise with the drive. Backup to external ASAP! The drive should die any moment now if its making physical sounds.

No noise.....I wish SSD manufucatures would put a noise generator on there, but we all know that will never happen.

However CHKDSK seldom catches deep errors, in experiance with my platter drives.

I was looking for something that would deep scan the nand memory. I am shocked the SSD companies don't include it with their program.

The OS can't check it. That's all handled by the drive itself. You can't really mark a sector bad at the filesystem level when that sector's location is completely fluid and may (or rather will) move around.

The drives track when a cell no longer is writeable, and they stop using that cell.

I told you my friend there is a app that will fix bad sectors. There is no way to fix it in windows. App is called HDD Regenerator and have a thumb drive conn. gl

...sigh. Expected I suppose.

OP, the only way to test NAND is to actually fill up the SSD, then do a read of all sectors, and compare what your wrote to what it has.

If you want, you could write X GB archive file to the SSD, then do a zip/rar/7z "test archive" operation on said file.

However, not sure you would want to do that, since it eats into your SSD's life.

If you have an Intel drive then their toolbox has a "full scan" feature which will do a read/write test on every NAND cell.

Or alternatively you could trash your SSD by trying to remap bad "sectors" using a "hdd sector reallocation" program.

Well, it sounds like you aren't having any problems - you just want to know how to check for errors. The Samsung Magician software can give you a basic summary of the SMART status, and other info on the drive, such as wear leveling, re-allocated sectors, hours on, error count, etc.... That's all you need.

To get this, just go to the system summary page, and then to the drive summary, and select the drive. Then select the SMART option. Information on any drive errors will be there.

Edit: I was going to say something bad about all the crappy info on this page, but I'd better not...

Ok, I will look harder thru the magician software.

Correct in that I am NOT having problems yet. But SMART has really let me down. I have two hard drives a 7k100 100GB that passes smart but has lots of bad sectors. Keeps an OS for a week and then blue screens. I have another fujistu that passes smart and will not read the info you copy to it.

So that made me want a way of scanning the 830. But maybe the firmware / & magician software will catch issues making a scan not needed.
