How to test LCD screen for stuck pixels, etc?

I just got my new dell 2001fp. This is the first lcd that I have owned so I am not sure how to put it through it's paces to see if everything works ok.

I have read about stuck pixels put have not seen one before and am not sure what is the best way to test for them. Is there anything else I should test for to make sure that my baby is 100% healthy?

Thanks

bigb

best piece of advice:

If you dont know what they are or what they look like, then dont look for them. If you find one by searching for it, you will always see it since you know where it is.

If you havent found them after a few days of general use, then dont even worry about it.

there is a program that you can find by searching download.com or something. All it does is fill the screen with a solid color. You look to see if theres anything wrong anywhere

Listen to this man.

Well, if it does have dead pixels, dell lets you send them back. you could make a slide show with a white sliode and a black slide and look for pixels that way.

Yeah, that's the approach I'm taking.

Sounds like good advice. I know some people who were never bothered by the horizontal damper wires (on some crt monitors) until they were shown where they were on the screen. Then it bugged the crap out of them! 🙂
