How to test CAS stability of memory???

Okay heres my situation. I recently just bought another 128 MB stick of Major Brand PC-133
memory from my local computer shop. Sandra's info on that stick says it has Samsung chips on it. Before I bought this stick I only had one stick of 128 MB PC-133 with Micron chips. With the stick of Micron I ran it at CAS 2 in the BIOS flawslessly without any problems. Now that I added the Samsung stick and still have the BIOS running at CAS 2 I have had some problems like random freezes in IE 5.5 or Outlook Express sometimes. My question is what program(s) are a good stability tester to see if my memory can run at CAS 2 without problems or if I'll have to revert back to CAS 3? Thanks in advance.

i don't know if this will apply to everyone but i have found that quake3, unreal tournament, and 3dmark2k have been able to let me know that my ram timings were too aggressive. i have pc133 cas3 ram which is 99% stable at cas2, even running sandra's memory test. however, at cas2 3dmark2k will randomly dump back to the desktop or unreal tournament/q3 will freeze or also dump to the desktop.

Yeah like ledzepp said. I use Q3A and 3DMark2000 and other various 3d things to test stability with things. Try setting your timing to CAS 3 and see if your problem continues.

Okay thanks guys. I tried running Prime 95 for over an hour and no crashes. Now I'm going to try running the Quake 3 demo but how do you loop the first demo? What is the command at the console in order to loop it?

bah. Prime 95 don't stress ram any more than opening windows. it's stress the CPU and cache if anything.

you need mem hungry apps. Q3 and 3Dmark will do. don't bother w/ P95, RC5, Seti.
