how to test a WD20EARS

Hey Guys,

I've just received a couple of WD20EARS drives and I want to run them through a couple of long tests before using them. I tried the WD Data Lifeguard tools (5.04f), but i guess it doesn't support this drive...at least not the bootable version. Does anyone have a suggestion for a supported drive diagnotic program for this drive?

Does anyone have a good test program for new HDDs to burn them in? Since the WD tool doesn't work for this drive?

On the recommendation of another board member I downloaded Seatools, http://www.seagate.com/www/en-us/support/downloads/seatools when I received my WD20ears.

I ran all the tests, time consuming to say the least but Im glad I did. Out of 5 WD20ears, 3 failed the smart test. Not good news but I chalked it up to Dell's poor packaging when shipping the drive.
