I just bought an OEM P3 Slot 1 1ghz/100fsb cpu without heatsink and fan. I bought a separate heatsink for it but requires me to take out the plates. I don't want to take the plates out and to find out the cpu is DOA, then I couldn't RMA it.
I'm thinking about loading the cpu without the H/F just to see it will post. The P3 has a safety that if it reach a certain temp it will shut off, right? Anyone out there has any more tips how to check this cpu?
