How to test a machine with knoppix?

Hi,

At the moment I am in the house of a friend of the family who just got a computer which was built by a person in town. He doesn't know very much about computers, but I just want to make sure that the computer that the guy built for him is good and stable.

With me I have KNOPPIX, and I wanted to know how to test the machine with it to make sure that it is stable?

The specs of the machine
Windows 98 SE
128 MB of RAM
Pentium II 400Mhz
3 Gig hardrive

This computer was built from used parts and that's why I want to make sure that it runs perfectly.

thanks for the help,

If the BIOS for your friend's machine is enabled so thta the machine boots from CDRom drive, then you are all set.
Esp. since knoppix does not make any changes to the existing configuration of the comnputer, you should not have to worry.

Knoppix FAQ (in case you missed)

I think he means which programs to run.

Besides memtest86 (which isn't included with knoppix) and badblocks (don't now if that is included or not), I'd like to know what other people use.

I mean what programs should I run, and thanks for the link xcript I am going to give that a try.

I tried to run knoppix in graphical mode, but the video card has practically 4MB of RAM

thanks for the help,
