How to tell which core an AMD x2 4600 is?

Wondering how does one do that from the specifications? They seem to have the same speed and bus numbers....

How do we tell whether one is the "windsor" or "toledo" ?? and would one really notice the difference between 1 or the other??

thanks... so what exactly is the difference between E6 and E4 stepping? What the heck is stepping in the first place?

And is it marked on the CPU itself anywhere which stepping it uses?

I have CPU-Z, but I'm wondering if there's a way to decode the stuff on the chip itself, the retail box didn't specify which core.

Are you really a surgeon? 😛

Think of steppings as revisions to the core for bug fixes and/or manufacturing improvements. If you're asking about E4 (Manchester) or E6 (Toledo) you have a socket 939 chip. Windsor is socket AM2 and has an F2 or F3 stepping. The links above will tell you everything you need to know about your processor.
