How to tell which chips are on a SODIMM ?

Hi ppl,

I am looking for a memory chip used in SODIMM sticks. My question is: How can I tell a certain stick has these chips ?

whole shagang:
I plan to upgrade the simpad which uses the same processor and memory as some Ipaq ppc. I read about an upgrade to 128mb that use 8M x 16Bit x 4 Banks SDRAM. I found samsung offer these chips called K4S511632M . Then I found simmiler chips on 256Mb SODIMM.
Any clues?

Not sure what you are asking. SODIMMs are laptop memory sticks and have 144 pin contacts. The chips on them have ID nomenclature.

instead of buying the chips I am after I am looking for them on sodimm sticks. that way I may get may hends on them cheaper.

Still doesn't make sense. What is the objective here? Are you trying to upgrade laptop memory? That's what SODIMM sticks are used in. Since they are surface mounted/wave soldered, I can't see trying to remove them for loose use elsewhere.
