I bought a CPU but cannot recall what type it is What can I do to tell what the original speed it was like if it was a 1.2ghz, 1.33, 1.4,etc... what software is needed to recall the core actual speed ??? Help. Thanks

Uninstall the processor, and look at the core. It should be printed on. Don't forget to reapply thermal grease if you do.

bacillus: that program wont tell you the default

for example i have a 1.1ghz cpu but i run it at 1.4ghz.... that program tells me i have a 1.4ghz cpu 🙂

I'm pretty sure you can check it by setting the FSB to 133(or 100, depending on CPU) and setting the xplier to auto. Even the unlocked CPU remembers default value.

The sure way is to remove the heatsink and visually inspect the core though. Intel has Intel CPU Utility that can ID the processor, but AMD has no such thing.
