How to tell if you have a sata I or sata II hd?

Is there any way to tell whether I have a sata I or sata II HD? Any benchmarking software I can run to see how my rig performs against others, in terms of HD performance.

There's an echo in here: you, yesterday

You can tell a drive is SATA-3Gb if it has a jumper on it to force SATA-1 mode for backwards compatibility, or by looking up the model number at the manufacturer.

Of course that tells you nothing about real-world performance since 3Gb mode is pretty much pointless for single drives and the platter density, cache amount and design, and rotation speed all have more effect on performance.

www.StorageReview.com has benches pre-run for you.
