How to tell if oranges are bad?

The orange looks okay its a nice deep orange color but when peeling it its all mushy and not firm (I thought it was because it was not in the fridge for the past 3 hours *i brought them from home to work..*) does this mean its bad?

i dunno it was pretty sour, like i never ate an orange that was so sour. lol, naturally ive never really ate one that wasn't refridgerated either, is this why its sour because it wasn't in the fridge and it getting room temp kinda amplifies the taste?

starting on the second of the 4 oranges, and yes i do believe something was wrong with that first one, i didn't finish it.. it tasted SOooo Sour 🙁

It lasted for 3 years in the fridge? Geez sometimes I find em that have been in there for about a month or two and they have huge black spots and are really soft.

there are 2 ways an orange can go bad (short term).

1 mold growing on it, this wasn't what you had it sounds like.

2 it can ferment, this could have happened.

so if you get a bit tipsy, it might be from the orange. 😉
