How to tell if a cpu was PREVIOUSLY unclocked

Is there any way to tell if a CPU I have was ever pencil-tricked? Couldn't the marks be erased?

Depends mate...

If you use a regular pencil, the marks can easily be erased.

Thats what I thought. So how exactly would it void the warranty if it can be erased?
