How to tell if a card is PCI or PCI-E

Hey all,

my fiance's computer says in the device manager that her card, an ATI Radeon X600, is a PCI card. Thing is, my computer says the same thing and I KNOW my card is PCI-E. Both shows just PCI in the device manager properties for the display adapter.

Is there any way, short of opening the box up, to verify if its PCI or PCI-E?

My X1900XT says PCI in device manager as well. Both your cards are PCI-E, don't worry.

X600s don't exist at all in PCI, as far as I know.

regular PCI can't move the data fast enough for an x600. maybe if it was a geforce2 mx 🙂

Take the card out and if the connector doesn't look like PCI, it probably isn't PCI.

my AGP 6600GT shows up as PCI in device manager too

PCI-E looks like PCI to the OS, at a software level. PCI-E is a type of PCI, but a wildly different type of PCI.
