How to tell diffrent AMD cpus apart?

i have 3 amd cpus laying around but dont remember the cpu speed of them anymore. Is there a way of telling what type/speed cpu it is just by looking on the die in the center of the cpu.. those numbers have any meaning? All i see are a series of numbers/letter but nothing that makes sence.

I dont wanna have to insert/install each cpu just to tell what it is, theres gotta be a easier way of telling what cpu is what? right?

AX = XP
AMP = MP
AXDA = Newest Thoroughbred Core
then the number should be the speed of core
AX 1900 ... = 1900+
I do remember that on the Anandtech latest review of the AMD 2200+ Tbred said something there aren't any markings on the core itself that tell you any info...
but try reading it again and see
