I just discovered that there are two variations of the X2 4400+ - a 110w part and a newer 89w part. How can I tell the difference using Cpu-Z or using some other software means on an existing installation?

I took a look at that link before I posted this question. The problem is that both Open PIB part numbers are the same: ADA4400CDBOX - there doesn't seem to be any other information that can distinguish the cpus. The only difference is in the OPN (Tray) - I don't know what this means - where the 110w model is ADA4400DAA6CD and the 89w model is ADV4400DAA6CD. I bought the Process-In-Box (PIB) in mid-Jan'06 through Dell.

They both have the same box code, and both have the E6 stepping, so basicly I don't think there is any way for you to tell the differance.

I overclocked it right from start: 2200MHz -> 2651MHz. Under overclock conditions it hovers around 34 idle and 42C Full load. I use a venus 12 cooler and run the variable speed fan at around 3500rpm which is closer to the lower end of its speed. Should this mean that it is a 89w part?

Are the 89w chips a new strand of silicon or something that just been released?

ADV4400DAA6CD will be stamped on the 89W unit, ADA4400DAA6CD on the 110.

The 110w unit IIRC is rates for up to 72 deg C and the 89w one was rated for up to 65 deg C. That was the only difference I could find.

The 110w unit's temps. are 49-65°C

The 89w unit's temps. are 49-71°C

So the 89w unit's max temp. is higher. That's the only difference I see besides their thermal power.
