You shouldn't be surprised by the reaction. Considering the enormous stress of being under fire was relieved by a spectacular explosion, they were expressing the intensity of the situation.

I am going to take a guess that neither of you have been in armed combat. And with the freaking trolls around here saying that a guy should be hung by his toes and tortured in all sorts of ways for raping someone, death does not seem to be a serious topic. It may very well be that I don't understand how they feel the way they do because I have never experienced such a situation...

Imagine this: You're tucked behind some rubble because some guy a few hundred yards away with a high powered scope is trying his best to put the center of the little cross right on your forehead. Imagine further that he's already tried and failed to kill you and your platonmates a few times. You've been pinned down for a while wondering if you've managed to block his line of fire.

Then... *BOOM* He's dead. Think you might feel a bit of relief? Think you might have a tiny bit of tension built up that needs to be released?
