So I went into the shed this morning to see if my keybox still worked. I only payed like $15 for it. But I gotta tell you, It's been the best little key box. I tried every hacker trick on it to crack open the code and I couldn't. It's made well and came with a rubber cover. And it already payed for its self last year when I forgot the house key. Anyway, I went into the shed and heard a buzzing near my right ear. Looked up and saw a hornet's nest. So this is me taking it out the best way I knew how.

For a second there i thought you were going to feed them Hot Pockets. Now that would be cruel.

And "kill it with water" just doesn't sound right.

Youre a braver man than I

Well, when I was a kid I used to grab bees by their heads and watch their stinger pop in and out. I quickly learned that they can arch their body so you have to do it right otherwise they'll stick you. What I learned when looking at the bee closely with my magnifying lens is that their stinger is barbed! Sucks for them. They stick you and can't pull it out again, unlike a hornet who can stick you multiple times.

I've always been brave around nature I guess. I sit out on the patio having a drink and a smoke at night and let the racoons pass right under my chair and around me. I'd even face a bear head on if I had to. Stick his ass in the eyes and punch his nose! But with bears you want to make yourself as big as possible and make LOUD sounds! Anyway... nature doesn't scare me all that much. Come to think of it. I'm not scared of much at all I guess. When I went repelling on the side of a 200' cliff and fell backwards on the rope, I breaked myself with my break hand and looked up at the Sergeant Major (I was in ROTC at the time) and said in a calm voice, "so how do I get out of this mess?" LOL!

Bees and hornets? At the very bottom of the fear factor list for me. LOL!

I guess that works, kind of time consuming way of dealing with it. Why not just give them a shot of brake parts cleaner or RAID or something? much quicker.

Ever spray Raid on a bug? That bug is still moving! LOL What I needed was liquid nitrogen.

Should'a taken them out in the woods and set them free.

By woods, I mean the neighbor's yard, of course.

Spray the nest with any kind of lubricant or grease in a can so you can do it safely away. Watch them slide out of the nest.

Do those things pollinate? They might actually end up handy once the bees are gone. They are little assholes though.

That's also an interesting nest how the honeycombs were exposed, never seen one like that before. Though given the size I'm guessing it was still being built. Got it in time.

I used to have fun destroying those as a kid, I always saw it as a challenge and there was a thrill associated with it.

No, most don't pollinate, they hunt other insects.

That would have been an option at the risk of getting arrested for trespassing. Could have did it at night I guess. LOL
