How to sync iOS devices across multiple computers?

I have a 3 machines all authorized under one same Apple account. However, they all have different music libraries on them.

-When syncing with an iPod, I can just whatever extra playlist or song I want to the existing collection on the iPod.

-When syncing with my iPad or iPhone to a machine with a different library, iTunes wipes out the pre-existing library before syncing to the new one.

For example, I need to add a couple songs that I have available on computer A only, but my iPad has a playlist from computer B. iTunes won't let me add them together and will wipe the old one out.

Any solution behind this or am I making harder than it ought to be?

If you turn on home sharing, does it work then? This is part half-assed suggestion, and part curiosity, as I have two macs and was curious about syncing my iphone and/or ipod with them.

Manually manage and then just use home sharing. You'll always have the issue if you try and use different computers unless you keep their iTunes folders in sync. There's an app called media rover that's for this purpose. You can also use dropbox, lifehacker has a good write up on setting that up. You can use drop box to sync folders in you internal network also. Doesn't have to only sync to the cloud then back down local.

I really don't know why they don't release iTunes Server edition, or let you check a box for auto-sync. They'd sell a ton more Mac Minis if they did, I think. I'd love to have a centralized location for all of my iTunes stuff (music, movies, podcasts) and then be able to sync through a local iTunes account or OTA (without hacks, at least).

I think it's more the music industry/movie industry doesn't want them to do that.

Yeah apple thinks people only have on mac in the house. They don't consider you might have a mac laptop and more than one imac's. They really should address this.

They could always make it easier. Especially in itunes.
Home sharing doesnt address one iphone synced to two or more mac's.
Not to mention if several family members have their own iphones/pads.

what exactly are you trying to sync?

If you want to sync calendars you can publish them to a mac account.

Music can be shared via itunes, I dont know the exact setting but I'm looking at a shared itunes in my itunes right now.

What else?

I think that's what Home Sharing is for.

right but many new user (few rich) buys mac without knowing anything about it, much less about home networking (now you know why geek squad is still around)

buy an portable external HD and put all music in it it'll be easy, that's what i do, don't need to keep three copy in three different PC, you can always use third party software to manually add music personally i like imtoo ipod to computer transfer.
