How to switch hard drives without reinstalling?

I just got a replacement hard drive, so I want to basically swap my new hard drive in and my old hard drive out(the window), shuld I use norton ghost or something like that, or do I have to reinstall everything?

Could I jsut put the second drive on the system and copy the whole drive from one to the other in xp?
 
(1) Install the new HD in the system with your existing HD
(2) Using Norton Ghost, do a partition to partition copy of the existing C: partition to the new drive.
(3) Repeat for additional partitions (if necessary)
(4) Remove the existing HD and set the new HD as the master on the primary IDE
(5) Boot the system 🙂
