How to stop Thunderbird from modifying subject line

Thunderbird 2.0 is great, I just discovered the filters and templates features and while I was testing them out, everything works accept TB adds brackets, enclosed within is the following-> was:[previous subject line emailed]. For example, if I send a mail with the subject "S1" and have a filter setup to auto reply with my template which has subject "Confirmed," it will send the user: "Confirmed (was: S1)."

Hope I was not too confusing and someone will be able to help me find some solution 🙂.
