I've been using popup stopper by panicware but it is useless against the popups that appear on a webpage and cover what you're trying to read. I know you can adjust the settings in internet explorer to disable script active x but that causes a error or warning everytime you go to the webpage that has the popup. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Use either:

The Proxomitron.....an amazingly poweful tool that does a lot more than just block ads.....

http://www.spamblocked.com/proxomitron/

or

Privoxy.......another great tool similar to proxomitron but with less options (which is no bad thing considering that the Proxomitron has possibly too many possible configurations...)

http://www.privoxy.org/

Both free, both great neither is better than the other (if your a 'fiddler' go with Proxo). Follow install instructions to get IE (or whatever) to go through a Proxy Server (localhost) and within minutes you will wonder how you ever survived without using one of them.
