OK, so I have tall fescue grass in my lawn, and the high heat is starting to stress the grass a bit. Regardless, I'm already planning ahead for reseeding/overseeding in October.

However, I have one BIG problem. My neighbor has centipede grass and it has started invading my lawn -- it's has crossed over about 2 feet onto my side of the property line. We were discussing it yesterday, but couldn't think of a proper solution.

My first thought was to use Roundup to spray on my side of the property line, but because of the way centipede grass grows, I'm assuming that it would kill his grass pretty far past the property line into his yard (need clarification on this).

Our other thought was for him to dig a small trench along the property line to "separate" the centipede that has invaded my lawn and his centipede -- then use Roundup on my side.

Is there an easier way?

round up will look very ugly. it will kill all vegetation and leave burnt look. you will have to rake dead grass. it also takes a lot of time to get anything to grow again.

In long run, you will probably need fence.

Centipede grass should be intolerant to many things, and your tall fescue might not, so you should be able to stress it out to stop its growing.

For example, I have some perennial rye-grass that is getting killed by hot and dry conditions.

Roundup isn't THAT bad. When we first moved into our house, I had a local company come out to put Roundup down because the backyard was full of weeds. Everything was dead within a week I believe. However, they were able to reseed within a month and everything came up nicely.

Also, I don't mind raking the dead s**t away to get rid of it. I actually don't mind the process.

Besides, it can't look any worse that the non-shaded portions of my lawn... the summer heat has scorched much of the lawn turning it brown.

Kills Bermuda/Centipede types, but doesn't harm Fescue, Kentucky, etc. Keep in mind Bermuda/Centipede types are the toughest grasses to control.

I recommend a high quality audio recorder and a motion triggered, infrared webcam so you can catch it in the act.

Without hard evidence your accusations will be empty.
