How to Stop Mobo from trying to boot from a USB drive

I have a problem with my PC trying to boot from a USB device (a flash drive and/or an external drive). This problem is happening on two somewhat older PC's (one is an A7N8X and the other is an Intel D845 series. I have looked in the BIOS for both boards for something that would would access the USB ports during boot up. Both PC's hang up when this happens; only a cold restart with the USB devices unplugged will allow the board to boot normally. I would think there would be a way around this no?

Thanks for the help.

Go to BIOS and set the boot priority of your HDD as first and any USB devices as last. That would definitely fix the problem.

I have looked under every option in the BIOS. Anything related to the Boot order or Boot priority lists the hard drive as first and every USB is disabled. Thanks.
