how to stop CPU randomly jumping to 100%

You have WOW running thats why.

When wow is taking up half to more of your system, yes you will have 100% load up.

I know I have wow running but this never used to happen before. If you look at the cpu usage it holds at around 50% to 70% then it randomly goes to 100% or 0%.

yeah cuz the game is taking up more then 1/2 your processor.

You have other stuff running in the background.

Also wow can utilize a full dualcore

You are on a Dualcore.

If you want better performance get a quadcore.

I see nothing wrong, you are at the limits of your processor.

i was gonna come in here and say this for him the second i saw WoW was being played but you did it for me. used to have the same type of issues when i played EQ2, only i had to suffer through 3 years of playing that game on single core pentium 4 and athlon 64 based systems before i could afford a dual core system as well. dont play EQ2 anymore, but not long before i quit i showed off a screenshot here of 2 copies of everquest 2 taking up 75% of my cpu time and 7GB of my ram on my rig in sig. game was still CPU limited but it couldnt use more than 2 cores so it didnt make a difference if i was running one or two copies

Well start by disabling all Addons to see if it continues. 3.5.5 for example had issues with Carbonite and I was getting 20 FPS at low details on a 3.8GHz 1090t and 5850.

guys WOW is a dualcore optimized program.

also having wow taking up then half his resources, and then him shaking his mouse really fast across the screen would max out his system process to 100%.
