Naked Jogger Tasered, Arrested By Arkansas Police

WEST MEPHIS, Ark. -- Arkansas' naked jogger has been zapped.

For months, officers have been getting reports about a man making late-night runs in the buff. On Monday, police said they think they got their mystery jogger.

Fate Patterson, 39, of West Memphis, was arrested after he ran past a police car and failed to stop when he was ordered to do so by officers. Police chased him and were able to rein him in by using a Taser.

Patterson was charged with indecent exposure, fleeing and resisting arrest.

Mike Allen, assistant chief of the West Memphis police department, said that it did not initially appear that the man was mentally ill. He did not disclose his reasons for running without his clothes.

"You know, this one has just got me kind of speechless," said Allen.

People in the bible belt (if Arkansas counts as the bible belt) are wierd.

Around here, they would have just let him run. Maybe he would have gotten a ticket.

They were probably just too afraid to tackle a nude man. :p

West Memphis is in Arkansas. It is located on the West side of the Mississippi River from Memphis, TN. Pretty much a craphole. I live in Jonesboro, AR and have to drive through West Memphis whenever I go to Memphis and it just looks like a depressing place to live... no wonder dude was running nekkid through there... nothing better to do.

In answer to the other question about being cold here... been hitting mid 30's during the night with occasional dips into the 20's.

I am giving 10 to 1 odds that this guy has a mullet too.

BTW, does anyone else just cringe when they see morons in the news from your own state? Gah!

I promise that not all of us are beer swilling, pick-up driving, mullet wearing morons
... but we are all armed so I wouldn't come here and make that statement. ;)
