How to speed up Win XP boot up?

HI guys,

on my new-ish pc, the boot up takes forever. Even win98 was a lot faster. THe new pc is as follows: Abit NF7 (nforce2), xp2400, 512mb of DDR@166/333, Western Digital 120gb 72000rpm 8megs cache drive, nic card, etc etc

my old pc: some soyo mobo, athlon 900mhz, 256mb ram, maxtor 7200rpm 40gb drive, nic card, etc etc. WinXP boot up in only 30 seconds on this old pc. My sisters even older compaq (amd k6-2, 64mb ram, junk hd, etc etc) boots win98 faster than my machine does winxp!?!?!

is there some sort of utility that optimizes/reduces boot times?

thanks

stop all the services that are....dumb. (alot) It will boot way faster, just dont stop a "less than dumb service"

this happened to my ...friend once
I, scractch that...He wanted his rig to boot really really fast to I stopped alot of services while at college. Then over the 3 day weekend he took it home and tried to use it on his at home KB and mouse....but the plug and play service wasnt exactly running, so he had to reformat the computer and forgot his halflife CD key so couldnt play firearms all weekend! what an idiot! heh...heh he..<bursts into tears>

Also there may be a few things in the bios that may help.
Quick Post
Lower the hard drive seek delay
turn off boot up floppy seek
set hard drive as first boot device.

Probably already set up that way but it doesn't hurt to check.
