How to specify which drive the programs should be installed at?

I am planning to go with 1 drive partioned into 2 drives.
1 for windows, and the other for everything else.

what i noticed over the years of using computers is that someprograms dont ask you where you want to insatll.
they automaticly go to C: drive into Program Files.

since i can not change the letter of OS (it always have to on C drive) i am left to small amount of software being installed in windows partition..which i dont want.
Is there any way I can chooose the place for those pesky programs that dont ask you?
