How to slow down traffic

Now if they can just find a way to make idiots pay attention, like when they sit there when a light turns green (and it's green for a very short amount of time) so only a couple cars get through the intersection and you have to wait through a bunch of different light changes.

All speed cameras do in general is fuck up the flow of traffic and generate bullshit revenue for the county. They are all over here and I hate every last one of them.

Typically people slow down like 5-10mph BELOW the speed limit. Such fucking idiots, it grinds my gears.

When Arizona had speed cameras on the freeways, they were just another tax on visitors as the locals knew where they were.

nothing about a 15mph limit is awesome

Average speed reduced from 32km/h to 25km/h (a reduction of 22%)

Sure but was that because of the lottery or just a result of installing speed cameras?

And as an incentive, we have the same problem as we have with car pool lanes. Car pool lanes are only an incentive for people to car pool as long as few people actually do it. If lots of people start using the car pool lanes, they will slow down and people won't bother with them.

Same thing here…if everyone (or just a large number of people) slows down to enter the lottery, speeding ticket money drys up and the lottery becomes worthless as an incentive.

In the end, it is just another safety gimmick that will soon lose its appeal with drivers.

Sweden is more concerned with citizen safety. In the USA, it's purely a revenue generating device, and they aren't gonna give you shit, especially from their own pockets.

No shit its all contracted out to companies whose sole purpose is to make money

Some jurisdictions even shorten yellow light times when it has been proven that lengthening them is the key to actually improving safety.

I have seen that before with speed traps but our county (140k peeps) only has 3 highway patrol on any shift at any time.
How am I to know that when I drive through your county? The safest* thing is to assume when you see one, that there are more nearby.

* Safe for remembering to follow good driving habits of course.
