How to Share internet with win2k and win98?

Hi, i got my network setup with one machine running win2k and the other with win98. Could someone be able to walk me through how to share the internet between the 2 computers. The w2k machine is the host and the win98 is the client. Thanks.

judging just from the sound of things, i would bet you are running a peer to peer network not a client/host.

ME and 2k come with ISC (internet sharing clien( something like that))
that does everything pretty much for you.

if you dont want to mess with that, get a router, it'll solve all your problems 😉
linksys suggested 😉

I tried tweaking around with ICS but with no luck. I don't really want to use any 3rd party software because this should be able to work.
I'm too cheap to afford a router! heh.

Are you running Win2k or Win2k server? For Win2k, the easiest way I've found is to use a third party proxy server. There are several free versions to choose from that offer minimal setup knowledge. I used to use Proxy+ (I believe I got it from ZDNET) Run it on the machine connected to the internet (you'll have to set up static IP addresses on each machine) and point the other to it. Simple.

In 2K, go to Network and dial up connections, right click your internet connection and enable sharing.
In 98, go to Internet Explorer properties, connections, select never dial a connection and make sure auto detect LAN settings is enabled.
Internet connection sharing need not be installed in 98, it's already available in 2K.

is this dial-up or cable...dsl?
if cable or DSL simple...on 2k machine right click on "my network places" properties...
you should see LAN...right click-properties...go to sharing tab...enable sharing...should be good to go...
on 98 machine assuming you have all protocols set up you should be good to go!

dial-up(god knows why you would do this) right click my network places
go to your dilup connection..should say netzer0 or whatever you are using...right click that dial up icon...properties...share tab...enable internet connection sharing...
