How to share a folder on server root.

Uhh... go to share, and choose the root drive. 😕

first off, go to "share" what is "share" shared folder? i cant get a shared folder on the server root.

do i make a share under computer management then go something server-side?

You can right-click on the folder and click Sharing...

My advice is if you do not know how to do it..you shouldn't be doing it. There is a HUGE security risk in sharing the root folder of your server...

Maybe he wants to share the root of a differant drive (not the system drive)?

Open up the file sharing snap-in for the MMC and create a new share, specify the path to the drive you want to share (i.e. "D:\").

Yes you can. Use the MMC to connect to the machine, go to Shared Folders. Create a New folder with the folder name being C: or D: or E:, or whatever.

Yes this is the case. It isnt the system drive. Its on a RAID or SCSI display...how would i access these drives from the server that houses them? I was brought in as a consult and thrown into the mix.

ist not the root folder of the server. The file drives are housed within the server but don't have any system critical files. they are simply for files.

Got another tech to help. I was not familar with their setup. it was in user properties profile tab in AD. home directory. the files themselves are on the system drive.
