I recently installed Win2k pro on my pc and now want to setup a dual boot with Win98se. I realize it would be easier to install 98se first, but I'd like to avoid reformatting if possible. I have 2 drives in my pc, 1 13G IDE and 1 18G scsi. The IDE drive is purely storage and the scsi drive is divided as follows:

13G IDE Storage (c: ) <- wish I could change that
3G Win2k (d: )
15G Apps/Games (e: )
2G Win98se (only for a few selected things) (f: )

I've tried booting with a 98 boot disk and installing that way, but it didn't like that with either 98 or 98se. Anyone know how I can do this?

Thanks.

you can install
winme with setup option /nr.

boot with a floppy (win98 or 98SE)
at DOS prompt:

setup /nr

(this option is not listed when
you type
setup /?)

and the boot records will not go to
MBR and the repair of Win2K is saved.

Stefan-
Problem is, I can't get Win98se to install. It gives me an error when I try from within 2k or after booting a 98 boot disk.

godot-
Does 98 or 98se have the /nr option?

Hmmm, I always used "setup /ntldr" not "/nr". Oh well, guess ya learn something everyday.

The '/ntldr' flag tells setup to NOT overwrite the MBR, but to add itself to NT's boot loader menu. I used this flag many times while beta testing WinME with much success.

Is the "/ntldr" or "/nr" flag supposed to work with win98/98se? I tried using the "/ntldr" flag with both last night, but got the same errors as I did when not using any flags...

Yeah, I have the same problem. I just got a 30 gig HD and set up a NTFS partition for W2K and several FAT32 part's. I installed W2K and now when I try to install Win98 it won't let me (without repartitioning, that is). Shouldn't I be able to install it on the FAT partition that is primary?
